Cruel Summer

I've struggled to find something to share because the heat of the summer sun has clearly affected my mind. In light of this seasonal fog, I am wondering, what can we do as designers when we are frustrated with our creative process?

In his article, "Flow: How to Avoid the Creative Block of Frustration", UX/UI designer Tom Kenny described the importance of avoiding frustration when designing products. Tom talks about how frustration or the feeling of being frustrated can be a sign of pushing yourself to get better and that “frustration is a good thing, only when you notice It and take action to reduce it”.

Gleb Kuznetsov presents six rules for avoiding design frustration in his 2019 article "A Helpful Guide for Overcoming DesignFrustration".

  1. Love what you Do You can break any boundaries to success by using the energy you get from your work.
  2. Deal with situations when things don’t go as planned. In order to experiment and try new things, you need to learn to deal with unexpected things.
  3. Look forward to fixing your mistakes The more you practice, the better you'll become; making a mistake is not a failure, it's an opportunity to improve.
  4. Time is a precious thing. Never waste it Despite not thinking about it, every minute of your time is costly.
  5. Focus on the small details, but plan for the big Focus on the basics and small details and work your way up from there.
  6. Be prepared for constant change and learn to move quickly You have to learn how to unlearn things because it is more than just a skill; it's an art.

As designers, developers, creatives, and humans, we all get frustrated sometimes; how we handle that frustration determines whether we can overcome it.
